Nik founded Grace & Thorn florists in 2011 out of a desire to create florals which defied all traditions and rules. Grace & Thorn’s naturalist and asymmetrical style has gathered a cult following amongst Londoners and brands alike – their long list of clients includes Whistles, Estee Lauder, Christopher Kane and Marie Claire. We love Grace and Thorn’s style which brings together the contemporary and the classic with unique combinations of texture and colour; no two pieces are ever the same. At Charlotte Frances London we are driven by the same style ethos.
Nik generously let us takeover her store on Hackney Road (an enchanting oasis of colour and vitality) for a photo shoot and here gives us a window onto her world.
What’s your most lusted after interior item?
I am on the hunt at the moment for a vintage, Danish leather sofa.
Favourite piece in your own home and why?
My black and white, geometric Moroccan Berber rug – it reminds me of a great holiday in Morocco and looks cool and cosy in my living room.
Where would be your dream place to live, in London or elsewhere?
It’s London all the way for me, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. There is so much greenery, history and culture to learn from and be inspired by, and Londoners are such innovative, open-minded and often hilarious people!
What is your favourite tipple?
A (good) Bloody Mary.
What are you aspirations for the next 12 months?
Find time to travel more! Having opened our second store in Soho in November last year we’ve got our hands pretty full but I’m hoping to have some time to get away a bit later this year.
Which is your favourite Charlotte Frances London print design?
Pampas (unsurprisingly!) – I love the vibrant green of the cheese plants and palms.
